This is fan art of a scene as I imagine it from the Stargate Legacy book “The Third Path.” The title of this artwork can refer to both the vividness of the color and the exceptional talent and intelligence of the cleverman Ember. Passages illustrated: “practically his own tower, a slender spire” “the lower chamber, where the windows ran from the floor to the ceiling, broken only by a dozen slender pillars. At the top and bottom of the windows, the glass was faceted into bands of prisms, and the space was flecked with hundreds of shards of rainbow. Ember stood at the far end, facing out toward the city’s edge and the vivid blues of the sea and sky beyond, his black coat a sharp contrast to the brilliance.” “the sensor pits bracketing his nose starkly visible in the harsh light” “more flecks of rainbow fell across him, bright against the dark leather” “the pale hair bright in the sun” Design calls: I’m not sure if stained glass counts as breaking the fields of the windows or not, but I wanted the viewer to look at this and know immediately this is a Wraith at ease in Atlantis. That meant Lantean-style décor. The benches were left off the view, off to the side and near the door, as to not obstruct the windows. Hopefully, Ember is enjoying his visit and the play of light colors everywhere. Hiveships can be colorful places too. I was inspired by both the striking visual descriptions of the scene and the progressive significance it means to me, personally, especially because Daniel, set in 2010, thought about how most humans don’t like to think where their food comes from. That is also changing. Just as Wraith will be brave and move forward, so progresses humanity. Ending slavery and gaining civil rights. Women’s rights. Gay rights. Animal rights and the rising of veganism. Humanity getting things right! “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice.” Martin Luther King Jr. We all feel pain and want to live freely and free from harm. We are all here with one another, not for one another, not any more than humans are made “for” Wraith. It is an exciting time to be alive and to be a part of progressive changes and we humans will move both bravely and wisely forward too. No matter what the books do or don’t do or how they change, I made this artwork because I am against racism, sexism, speciesism, heterosexism, etc.
