Telepathic Vision

Telepathic Vision

Gordon the Wraith is most well-known from the behind-the-scenes feature “Wraithial Discrimination.” In the episodes, he appeared in the halls and hologram room in “The Gift” (1×18), in Atlantis in “The Siege, part I” (1×19), and also in Michael’s memory of walking through the hive hallways in “Michael” (2×18). I tried very much to get all details for him correct, but had to speculate on the pants. I gave him textured pants similar to Steve’s since their jackets are similar. This picture insinuates the presence of at least one other Wraith: Gordon could be seeing himself through another Wraith’s eyes, or another Wraith could be accessing the memory or sight of the Wraith who is presently looking at Gordon. Telepathy and visual speculation: My guess is that the iridescent colors of telepathy are because visuals are slightly flawed due to being second copies, at least once-removed from the original viewer, similar to mist in memories in the Pensieve of the Harry Potter fandom. In “Instinct,” Ellia sees the river bed and forest in full-color, natural light through Elric’s eyes and in “Submersion,” Teyla and Queen Taina see these iridescent colors when accessing each other’s memories. This makes me think Wraith and human eyes function similarly in normal to bright light conditions, but I think Wraith sensor pits/viper pits may aide their vision in low or no light conditions, through picking up infrared heat waves (which are very close to visual light on the electromagnetic spectrum). If Teyla were to access Neo’s night vision memories of fighting Ronon in “Sateda,” I think she would see the heat signature visuals, along with iridescent telepathic marks in the picture.
